Dave Sorg Memorial Dave 2+.jpg

David W. Sorg, 46, died on September 21, 2012 in San Francisco, California after a 2 year battle with cancer. During this time, he was lost his ability to speak, and eventually eat, two things that Dave loved very much. He amazed those around him with his strength, courage, & faith, and ability to change, and survive. He maintained an incredible level of independence, pride, and selflessness during his most difficult days. He learned to perfect the art of being a great listener that deepened his connection with others, while encouraging them to do the same. In his own words, “Most often my silence helps my connection with people in amazing ways.”

David was born July 25, 1966, the son of Wesley and Nancy Sorg. David graduated from Glasgow High School in 1984, where he was an accomplished football player, and captain of the football team. He attended Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida. Shortly thereafter, he moved to SF and started a painting business. Dave was also an avid photographer, writer, and loved US history and prided himself in being a World War 2 expert. David loved his family, and was proud to be a part of a large extended family. In his own words, “…having my family in my life is the single most important event of my lifetime.” Most of all, his greatest pride and joy was his son, Sonny.

He is survived by his son, Davidson (Sonny) Sorg age 15, his parents, Nancy Sorg of Wallingford, Pa. and Wesley Sorg of Houston, TX, 5 siblings Brian Sorg- Chadds Ford, Pa, Susan Sorg Lanz of Ramona, California, Sheryl Scozzafava of Reno, Nevada, Christopher Sorg of Clearfield, Utah, and Kayla Sorg of Wallingford, Pa. David was pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents, Edwin and Marjorie McClure, and Wesley and Shirley Sorg, whom he loved dearly. A private family service will be held in our hometown, Greenville, Pa. where he will be buried next to his grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in his name, for his son Davidson (Sonny) Sorg's education. Sonny is also an aspiring football player. A trust fund has been created for Sonny’s support at Ameriprise Financial, 1011 Centre Road, Wilmington, De. 19805, FBO Davidson Sorg. Click on the link below to donate directly this trust.
